Crushing Defeat is my newest 12-pound hobbyweight. It
uses a high-gear ratio motor to slowly rotate a crushing spike downward onto
the opponent. The unique thing about this design is that the crusher can
continuously rotate and will grab anything that comes up the wedge. This
should make it a lot easier to grab hold of an opponent before they slip
away.
The crushing implements are S7 tool steel and have very
sharp points. Torque is transferred to them through two #25 chain sprockets.
Frame and crusher coming together with some dramatic lighting.
This is the crusher motor with the outboard bearing and
sprockets installed. The sprockets are held in place with steel pins that go
through the shaft.
I have 4 crushing implements for different types of
opponents. They were waterjet cut from 1/2" S7 steel. This was taken before
I sharpened them with a belt sander.
The wedge came like this straight from Team Whyachi.
They did a fantastic job on the waterjetting and getting the bends perfect
so it would line up with the frame. It is made of .100" 6AL-4V titanium.
